Renshinkan
shorinji ryu is a traditional Japanese karate established by Isamo
Tamotsu in 1949 and carried on today by his son Iwao Tamotsu in Kagoshima, Japan.
Gainesville's Renshinkan Martial Arts Academy enjoys a close relationship with the
Japanese Renshinkan family. Soke Iwao visits the Gainesville
dojo periodically and students from the Academy competed in
the 2005 International Renshinkan Competition in Kagoshima.
Advancements in rank in Renshinkan shorinji ryu are authorized and certificated directly by Soke Iwao.
